KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) is intensifying efforts to strengthen integrity and accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption as key pillars for building a progressive, inclusive and self-sustaining Sarawak.
TSI chairman Datuk John Tenewi Nuek said the organisation would prioritise initiatives promoting transparency, technological readiness and sustainable economic development across Sarawak.
“Over the years, the government and the country have lost billions of ringgits through corruption. Imagine how many schools, hospitals, roads and bridges we could have built with this amount of money,” he said in a press statement on Tuesday (July 28).
He added that corruption not only caused financial losses but also weakened public confidence, national dignity and international trust, making integrity a fundamental requirement for sustainable development.
“TSI plans to organise a Forum on Integrity, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to formulate practical recommendations for strengthening governance and promoting zero tolerance towards corruption.”
He said integrity should become a national ethos reflected through policies, institutions and daily conduct, enabling Sarawak and Malaysia to gain greater respect among investors and international partners.
Besides governance, he said TSI would establish the TSI Artificial Intelligence Community to prepare Sarawakians, particularly youths, for rapidly changing technological and economic landscapes.
He said the initiative would improve AI literacy through community programmes while encouraging practical applications supporting entrepreneurship, digital innovation, agricultural automation and smarter manufacturing across Sarawak.
According to him, expanding AI knowledge would also help bridge technological gaps between urban centres and rural communities, creating wider economic opportunities and strengthening long-term resilience.
He also reaffirmed TSI’s commitment to its five core objectives, including improving education, promoting peaceful coexistence, cultivating integrity, strengthening Sarawakian identity and building a sustainable economy.
Meanwhile, TSI’s Annual General Meeting also elected its new leadership uncontested, with Tenewi remaining chairman alongside deputy chairman Datuk Azmi Bujang and secretary Dr John Chew.
He called on Sarawakians to embrace change, actively participate in TSI’s initiatives and work collectively towards shaping a future driven by integrity, innovation and shared prosperity. – Sarawak Tribune
