The Chairman on behalf of TSI, thanked everyone who has helped to put the TSI Leadership Programme together and all the lecturers who have accepted the invitation to share their experience and knowledge with participants.

“The objective of TSI is to work towards building a better Sarawak and we won’t be able to achieve this if we do not have good leaders. Good leaders have to be knowledgeable in many aspects of how a country is governed, from a good understanding of quality education system to sound economics strategies and more. They must not be merely adding to the number of elected representatives without a sense of responsibility and a sound knowledge and understanding of a wide spectrum of subjects.”

“The TSI Leadership Programme is designed to provide an opportunity for aspiring and current leaders to acquire more knowledge and learn from the experts on issues that are important for leaders to lead a nation. It is therefore all the more important for aspiring and current leaders to take this opportunity to register for this unprecedented TSI Leadership Programme where more than 30 lecturers have come together under a single platform to deliver their knowledge and analysis.”

“The world is moving and changing at lightning speed in an unbridled manner, caused by the development in arts, literature, economics, science and technology and more as well as the increasing and intense competition in the economic and trade areas. A number of countries are already seriously exploring the outer space and a few have even landed space crafts on Mars. This shows how far the human race has progressed. In fact, we are being left behind even by several Asian countries with who we were of similar economic standing in the 1960s and 1970s.”

“We cannot afford to be complacent and take things for granted any more. We need effective leaders to advance forward; and we need to create leaders with wide breath of knowledge, high level of competency and unquestionable integrity who dare to dream and take whatever measures necessary to advance us forward to a state that we will all be proud of. We dream to build a State that is: free, united, multi-racial, secular, clean, and holistically developed, with growth accompanied by equitability and social justice. It is with this spirit and hope in building a better Sarawak that TSI is putting up this Leadership Programme.”

“To make the Programme be as interesting, exciting as well as fun for every participant TSI has chosen a wide array of topics to be covered. These include topics on education, economics, principles of government, religious liberty, combatting corruption, gender equality, Judiciary System, Foreign policy and more.”

“In today’s world where news spread like wild fires through the internet, it is important for one to be able to discern real from fake news. This is the trend of the media now and will be in the future and as such it is crucially important for aspiring and current leaders to build a better society and train its citizens to be able to sieve out the fake news as these have destructive effects on nation building. This is another reason why aspiring and current leaders need to equip themselves and learn from the lecturers who are experts in their fields as they deal with facts and figures and detailed analysis in their works.”

“I hope all participants will take full advantage of this programme and take full and active part to engage with the lecturers and have a fruitful and enjoyable time. Participants must maintain an open mind and critical thinking when taking part in the Programme.”

“With that, I like to launch and declare the TSI Leadership Programme opened today 22 July 2021.”
